Water Company to Upgrade 11 Miles of Pipeline in Lincolnshire

A major water infrastructure project has been announced to replace approximately 11 miles (18km) of aging pipelines in Gedney Hill, Lincolnshire. The upgrade, valued at £4.2 million, aims to improve long-term water reliability for local residents.

Work is scheduled to begin on 27 April, with phased road closures planned throughout the construction period. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2027.

According to a company representative, the initiative is designed to ensure a stable and efficient water supply system, helping households maintain consistent access to essential services such as clean running water and sanitation.

The East of England has been identified as one of the driest regions in the country, while also experiencing rapid population growth. Projections indicate that more than 700,000 additional residents could move into the area over the next two decades, increasing demand for water resources.

Despite the scale of the work, customers are not expected to experience major disruptions to their water or sewerage services. In cases where temporary supply interruptions are required, residents will be informed in advance.

Planned Roadworks Schedule:

  • Langary Gate Road (Phase 1): 27 April – 5 June
  • Langary Gate Road (Phase 2): 8 June – 7 September
  • North Road: 3 August – 1 September
  • West Drove South: 14 September – 9 October
  • Mill Lane: Traffic lights from 3 August – 11 September

The company emphasized that long-term planning and investment are essential to meet future water demands in the region. Without such upgrades, supplying sufficient water to customers could become increasingly challenging.

Residents are also encouraged to adopt water-saving habits, especially during warmer months. Simple actions such as reducing shower time and using washing machines with full loads can contribute significantly to conserving water.
